I had a eye opening conversation with a buddy of mine yesterday about how technological "beeps" are controlling our lives. Consider these scenarios:

Phone: Don't you stop what you're doing (even if you're in a middle of a conversation) whenever you hear a beep from your phone (which can be a text message, voicemail, email, phonecall, social media alerts, etc)? I can't count how many times I've seen people having a meal yet everyone is on their phone and not interacting with the person in front of them.
Email: Ding! You've got mail! Our knee jerk reaction would be to check the email and perhaps respond to it asap. I've been distracted once too many times with emails coming in that I lost my train of thought while in the middle of something.
Home tech: Microwave, washing machine, clothes dryer, coffee maker, dishwasher, alarm clock, etc - ding! beep! buzz! it never stops

It's so true isn't it? These beeps are calling the shots. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Feel free to comment below.
